Scott Redford

Elements of popular culture play an important role in Scott Redford’s work and are dispersed throughout his painting, sculpture, video and performance. Pages torn from gay pornography, pop song titles, celebrity posters and surfing paraphernalia are materials commonly found in Redford’s artistic practice and form the basis of his longstanding interest in collage.
Exploring issues associated with body image, sexuality and the inherent struggle between high and low culture, Redford creates work that both seduces and confronts.
Redford’s work was included in the recent major exhibition Optimism, at the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery. He exhibited the retrospective exhibition ½ Way: Collage Works 1994-2004 at Dell Gallery at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane. Redford’s work has been collected by the National Gallery of Victoria, the Art Galleries of NSW, SA and WA, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.
He currently lives in Brisbane.
