Anthony Lister is prominent among those young Australian artists who apply graffiti’s edgy vitality with the gravitas of easel painting. Borrowing freely from comics, advertising and the everyday things around him, his deliberate yet loosely flowing calligraphic style draws the viewer into his loaded canvases. Lister compiles a lively song of praise to the contemporary urban environment he knows and loves.

Anthony was born and lives in Brisbane, the city that inspires his art. He has held solo exhibitions in Hobart, Brisbane, Melbourne, London, New York and Legnano, Italy, during the past six years as well as participating in a large number of group shows, in Australia and internationally.
